Why now?
For the first time in over 50 years, the U.S. lost its status as a liberal democracy in 2025. Recent data from V-Dem and Freedom House confirms that the U.S. is moving toward authoritarianism. History suggests that once a democracy starts backsliding, reversing course is difficult, but not impossible. The sooner we take action, the more likely it is that liberal democracy can be restored. That's why contributing to organizations already countering this spiral is one of the fastest routes to impact.
